Ian Stuart, Funeral Celebrant

Born in Scotland, Ian began his business career on the floor of Lloyds of London - the world’s largest syndicated insurance provider and came to Canada in 1953 where he continued in the general insurance business until he took up theological studies in Toronto.   He was ordained in 1964 in the Anglican Church and since 2001 has been “on loan” to the United Church of Canada serving in Nottawa and Rob Roy.  Ian spent 20 years as chaplain and mathematics teacher at Appleby College in Oakville - a private boy’s school where he related on a daily basis to adherents from every possible religious background.  He moved to Collingwood in 1991 with his wife Carole who is in charge of the historical and genealogical department at the Collingwood Public Library.   In his younger days he was an avid rugby and squash player, but now limits his sporting activities to the golf course.  He is an executive officer of - and padre to - the Royal Canadian Legion in Collingwood and is a commissioned officer in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves with the rank of Major. Ian can perform non-denominational or even non religious based Celebration of Life services for those in need. For more information please contact Fawcett Funeral Homes.
