Condolences

Condolence From: Robby
Condolence: I first met the then Major Duncan on arrival at 1 Tpt Coy RCASC in Ft Chambly Germany 1963. He was CO of the Company. As a young private I had very little interaction with the CO. Except for one major event. In 1965 I wished to marry in Scotland but need the CO’s permission/blessing. This I obtained after a personal chat with the Major. Over the years I heard of him and his actions. NARY a bad word about this Officer and a Gentleman., but the following links have pictures and stories of his involvement with the Korean Veterans of Canada. I feel that I may this for all who attended RV16 last August, it was indeed a Proud moment in all of our lives to meet Col Duncan once again and Honoured the he took the Final Salute of RCASC Veterans that Sunday Morning last August. I even speak for Jim Dawson 23 Pl who feels he held the record of Order’s Parades under Major Duncan. Rest in Peace Soldier your Duty Done, Proud to have known you, even Prouder to have served under your leadership in NATO. Nil Sine Labore Robby

Condolence: Karyn and Fred and Families, I was saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. Uncle Jim was very special to me. As the brother of my own father, I saw so much of Alec in him. I really felt a connection to my father through Uncle Jim...They looked alike and even Jim's voice sounded like Alec's. I always enjoyed his stories and the twinkle in his eye. He was such a proud Canadian and served his country with passion and honor. We always stopped to see him whenever we got out Penticton way.. I will miss our visits. I will hold those memories close. I am sure he is now with Gwen and finding peace in heaven... and maybe a good fishing lake ! With love.... Anne Walker

Condolence From: Col (Ret'd) Dave Marshall
Condolence: To Fred and Karyn- It is with a heavy heart that I offer you my most sincere condolences on the passing of your father and my "Uncle" Jim. Your Dad was a great inspiration to me in most facets of my life. As you well know, he and my dad were close friends for decades, especially during the years in Alliston and later Penticton. He helped to teach me to hunt and fish as a young teen. He watched over me as an Army Cadet. He monitored my progress during my military career. Most of all, he was a stalwart friend and mentor. He was, frankly, like a second father to me. I wish you both strength and perseverance in the days and weeks ahead as you come to grips with his passing. I shall miss him deeply. Gone but never forgotten... Dave
