Condolence From: Jan Saugh
Condolence: Donna and family, I just heard of Ashley's passing and wanted to send my heart felt sympathy and prayers. I have and will always treasure the memories of her and Justin as young children, being children...playing, laughing and enjoying each others company. She left a special place in everyone's heart and will always be loved and remembered. God Bless you at this time and know I am praying for you and your family. Love Jan

Condolence From: Drew Rigden
Condolence: Donna, Paul, Jonathan and other family members, I wanted to reach out to you not only to thank you for your donation to the club, but to pass on my deepest condolences for your loss. There are never any good words to say to someone when they've lost a child or sibling, and I've thought of Ashley often over the past number of years. I've wondered how she was doing with her transition, and her condition. I recall the years that we shared together playing hockey and even some of the chats we had in the hotel in Collingwood, after she used all the towels leaving me with only a hand towel to shower and dry with. I am truly sorry for your loss, I can't begin to imagine how tough it is. But I can end with the comforting belief that she has shed her cocoon that was her earthly body and has now assumed her rightful position spreading her wings and soaring with the angels. My deepest sympathies, Drew Rigden President Elmvale Bears Sledge Hockey Club

Condolence From: Willy & Kathryn Henschel
Condolence: Donna, Paul, Tobi, Jonathan and Danielle & Peter and Cynthia, We only got to meet Ashley a few times, but her smile will stay with us for a lifetime. Reflecting back on all of the pictures we have seen, there was a smile not only on Ashley or Wesley's face, but on the faces of those with her. Danielle has spoken of her sister in the highest regard, making sure she was treated the same and able to be included in family gatherings and celebrations since the first day we met her. We cannot mend your broken hearts, however truly believe Ashley is in a much better place and lived the best life she could because of her family. Love and support for all of you and knowing you have each other and a true family bond will help to bring comfort in the future. Blessings, Willy and Kathryn

Condolence From: Debra & Steve Currie
Condolence: Dear Donna and extended family, I will always remember Ashley with fondness. She had her struggles in public school when I was the noon hour supervisor. I watched her grow both in spirit and maturity. She never gave up, but always had a smile for everyone. Despite her challenges, she gave her all, in whatever she did. What used to touch me the greatest was how her family always surrounded Ashley with love, patience and kindness. They always made sure she was treated like everyone else, which helped her learn independence. We are saddened by Ashley's passing but are also glad that she is now receiving her just reward where there is no more tears, or pain. Blessings to you all. Deb, Steve, Sarah, Erin, Michael & Matthew Currie.

Condolence: My sincere condolences to the family, friends, and all those lucky enough to have met Ashley. My good fortune came in Grade 9 when I started each school day with Ashley in drama class. Her strength and will to lead a normal life was always a source of inspiration to me. I remember her talking about her love of ice hockey and music and she was a true example of what it meant to be strong in the face adversity. Rest in Peace Ashley.

Condolence From: The Colantonio Family
Condolence: Andrew sent me notice of Ashley's passing today. I remember Wesley at PRA, yours being one of the first families we met. He always had a smile and persevered without complaint as we went hiking through snow and whatever was on the agenda. As Wesley grew, I would see him working at the Cinema or where ever he was at. Always a smile! To see how your family demonstrated support throughout so many challenges would leave me awestruck. Jonathon was always there to help out and I have marveled at your strength throughout the years Donna. I intended to visit Ashley last summer and regret I didn't get there. The spirit is what resonates when the body is gone. I will always remember the peaceful, kind spirit I knew. Ashley is a tribute to what we strive for as human beings. To be true to ourselves, accept others, and always demonstrate kindness. May you soar amongst the stars dear Ashley. I am so glad to have known you.

Condolence: Donna, Paul and families... Out of the deep sadness we have in saying "see you later" to someone so young, we also find peace in knowing that Ashley's been released from her physical burdens. She has inspired all of us to be better people as we watched her battle a neurological disease so very rare it was named after her! Now it's Ashley's time to run free, to dance, to play music, and to enjoy anything she'd dreamed of doing! With the determination, tenacity, courage, strength and love she demonstrated here on earth, she will no doubt be a rock star in Heaven (or maybe a movie director!) Donna....you have been her angel on earth....never for a moment in those trying years did you display anything but your unconditional love, hope and devotion to your beautiful girl! You meant the world to Ashley, and to all of us who have witnessed that beautiful relationship...we thank you for being exactly who you are!

Condolence: To Ashley's entire family Please accept my deepest heartfelt condolences at this most difficult in your lives. I was honoured to have known both Ashley and Wesley who made me believe that it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them and a day to love them but it takes an entire lifetime to forget them. We are all creatures of this great earth, interconnected in ways beyond understanding. When one of us passes, the rest need to mourn and we will mourn the passing of this amazing gentle soul. May there be comfort in knowing that with a quick thought, closing of your eyes, the wiping away of a tear or the beating of your heart, memories of Ashley will be there for you always. Rest in paradise Ashley you will be missed and definitely never forgotten. You are at peace and that gives us comfort... Until we meet again...
