Alexander Ogilvie Taylor passed away peacefully at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood, Ontario on Wednesday, June 9th, 2021 Alex is survived by his wife, Jan, his daughter, Dawn (Graham) of Cruden Bay, Scotland, predeceased by his daughter, Vicki (Danny) of Aberdeen, Scotland, David Christoffersen, Copenhagen, Denmark, and Dana Christoffersen, of Toronto, Grandchildren, Claire, Andrew, Becky of Scotland, Kaelyn, Toronto, Louis and Philip of Copenhagen.

Alex was born in Aberdeen in 1933 to parents, Alexander and Edith Taylor. During WW11 Alex and his sister, Margaret, were temporarily sent to live with their Grandparents in the country. Alex immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1954 with $50 and a strong work ethic which held him in good stead since he became a site foreman by age 21. For many years he worked for several construction companies specializing in the insurance restoration industry. He eventually started his own business, appropriately called, The Alex Taylor Contracting and was well known in the insurance business.

A gifted sportsman, who as a teenager cycled with the Panthers Cycling Club in Aberdeen, took the time to immerse himself into all sports. He played footie (soccer) in Scotland and Toronto. He loved the Toronto Maple Leafs and often drove to Detriot to support his team. He and some friends were introduced to skiing at Blue Mountain in the mid 60s. They were highly motivated by some Aussie nurses which in turn led to building a chalet on Craigleith Road. For many years each January Alex hosted a Robbie Burns Haggis party. The social life, numerous lifelong friendships and adventures at Blue Mountain and Toronto Ski Club continued until the past few years.

Alex married Jan in 1985 and inherited David and Dana. They lived in Etobicoke until moving to Collingwood in 1990. The famous smile and glint in his blue eyes have faded the past few years but Alex loved life, friends, hosted many parties and was someone with whom you could always share a laugh. He leaves a legacy as a shrewd businessman, a kind, generous and loyal friend, devoted husband and the absolute best step-father in the world,

A celebration of life event will be organized when restrictions allow. No need for flowers but donations to Hospice Georgian Triangle - Campbell House and/or Canadian Alzheimer Society will be greatly appreciated.

He hath awaken from the dream of life.
