Alf will be remembered for his zest for life, his passion for golf and of course the side bets to make the game more interesting. He also loved playing cards (bridge or Mississippi stud at a casino). He always enjoyed having a caesar after a game of golf or on occasion.
He was very competitive and loved to tease and jest in fun. The last 2 years of this life he was finding that he could no longer play a game of golf and quote “If I can’t play well then I don’t want to play at all.” He loved watching almost all sports especially his favourite hockey team (THE LEAFS). His favourite card game was bridge. He totally enjoyed a game of darts or pool and taking a ride on his electric trike.
He was an honest, generous man with great integrity. You always knew where you stood with him, there was no guessing.
When his wife Sandra of 59 years of marriage passed away July 5th, 2018, he made a lot of adjustments. He had to learn how to cook and do laundry which he realized and appreciated all that his wife did for him in all those years together. When he could no longer drive, he felt it time to consider a place where he could have some independence but, have everything done for him so he could play and not be a burden. It took many moves and locations to find the perfect spot... the final move to Midland. There he found friends (a community) and his independence. I'm so happy that he had that for some time as he was really enjoying where he was. Sadly, he passed away on February 11, 2022, in his room at Chartwell of a heart attack. I would like to think his heart was filled with so much happiness it couldn’t take it anymore. We are grateful that it was fast, and he did not suffer which is what he hoped for. For me he was the greatest dad! Love you Dad and you will forever be in our hearts.
