Obituary for Camille Remme

Camille Ann Remme (75) passed away peacefully at Collingwood Hospital on June 29, 2019. The family rushed to her side to pay final respects at 1 am and see her one final time. She will be forever in the hearts of her family, beloved husband Ola, children Eden (Doug), Randy, and Rebecca. She was grandmother to Jordan, Perry, Tyler, Ryley, Roni, Austen, and Jasper who all have fond memories of her generous spirit. She is survived by her three sisters, Jane, Patti, Suzie, half-sister Anita and sisters-in-law, Rene and Sandra, many of whom spent time by her side in the hospital.
Camille was a master quilter, writer and compassionate, spiritual woman. She and Ola were high school sweethearts from Alderwood High in Toronto and have since made Collingwood their permanent residence. She graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Economics which she studied part time while she cared for her young children. At various stages over the years, Camille assisted Ola with his businesses, was owner and manager of the “Stitch N Post” craft store in Markham in the 70’s, and even owned a bakery franchise in the city in the 80’s.
From the time of her youth, she sewed her own clothes and loved crafts. She was an accomplished knitter but it was when she discovered quilting that her obsession took hold. She was a prolific and gifted quilter who published six books on quilting and travelled across the world to teach this art form. She was a past president of the York Heritage Quilt Guild, was a member of Osler Brook Golf Club and connected to Alpine Ski Club through her family, some of whom are avid skiers and one is an Olympian.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Camille at Alpine Ski Club on Friday, July 12th at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital would be appreciated.
