Obituary

RUSSELL, Carole Dianne (NEE Ross). December 16th, 1959 – June 22nd 2020. Carole passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home in Heathcote, ON surrounded by the love of her family and pets on Monday, June 22nd 2020 in her 61st year. She is survived by her beloved husband Eric Russell, her cherished parents Alan and Dianne Ross, her three loving children, Katherine (Michael Pointon), Mary and Stephen Russell, her two grandchildren Shawn and James Pointon, her brother Scott Ross (Tracey Butler) and her two nieces Amy and Kirsten Ross. A Celebration of Life will be planned and held when current COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted to throw Carole the party that she deserves.

Carole was born December 16th, 1959 in Mississauga Ontario. She attended Cawthra Park Secondary School and three years of an English degree at the University of Toronto. Carole had a career in the Food and Beverage industry as a server over 30+ years. In every restaurant she worked in she was known as Mom; she would bring food for her co-workers and she was always available for a warm motherly hug. Carole was also fierce and always stood up for herself and others when they were wronged. Carole was a mother of strays; animals and humans alike. For any who needed the comfort and love of a mother, Carole had extra to spare.

Carole was an incredibly devoted mother to her three children. She lost her first husband unexpectedly on April 1st, 2004 and did everything she needed to in her power to ensure the wellbeing of her children. As we grew up, we also nurtured an incredible friendship with our mom; one of openness, mutual respect and a deep, unending love and want for each other’s wellbeing. Carole was always sad to see her children leave and had an open armed welcome and food for their return. She felt most at peace when all her children were at home with her.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carole spent the last months of her life at home, in the beautiful Beaver Valley, surrounded by her children and pets. We had time together worth more than any material means in the world. She spent her days in the sun on our patio, with her new puppy Murphy sipping on wine or bubbles. Despite all the difficulties that the pandemic had brought and continues to bring we often all remarked how wonderful it was to be together under one roof, sharing meals and love.
