Dan Wolfgang Janssen
December 6, 1930 – May 3, 2023
Dan Wolfgang Janssen died peacefully on May 3, 2023, in Campbell House Hospice at the age of 92 surrounded by his loving family. Dan was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice (nee Maltese) for 58 years, father of Denise (Rick) and Dianne (Gary); and grandfather to Ryan and Stephanie (Simon). Sadly, he never got to meet his great granddaughter Zoe in person. Dan will be greatly missed by his brother Ullrich (Sigrid) and nephews Eric and Derek who live in California and his brother Lutz (Ingrid) and nephew Oliver who live in Germany, and his cousin Renata who lives in Toronto. Dan was born in Hamburg Germany to parents Otto and Irma on December 6, 1930. Dan had an adventurous spirit and in 1956 at the age of 25 immigrated to Canada with his younger brother Ullrich. His little brother Lutz and mother Irma remained in Germany. Dan had a successful business career with Dunlop Tire, Firestone and finally as President of Ziebart International Corporation in Detroit Michigan. After Dan retired, he moved back to Canada and devoted his time and energy to having fun with his grandchildren; sailing; fishing; and golfing. The happiest days of his life were spent with family and friends at his cottage on Christie Beach on Georgian Bay. He developed a passion for investing in the stock market and spent many hours keeping apprised of world events. The family would like to thank Janet Asumin who lovingly cared for Dan for the past 7 years in his Mississauga condo and the staff of Campbell House Hospice who compassionately cared for Dan and his family during his end-of-life journey. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, contact the family for details. The family invites you to leave your condolences and photos on the memorial wall. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that you consider supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada
