Obituary for David Sharp

DAVID CAMPBELL SHARP
JULY 18, 1951 – JULY 18, 2022

We are heartbroken that David has passed away in Collingwood, after a six month battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Missy (nee Gibson), sons Matthew and James, Matthew’s wife Mira Ortved & their daughter Norlys.

David spent many years as President of Octanorm North America, until he relocated to Collingwood.

“Sharpie” was an outdoors man and an accomplished athlete. When his family was young, he was the “RAD DAD” all the kids idolized. His passions included alpine and cross country skiing, snowboarding, canoe tripping, waterskiing, sailboarding and mountain biking. His talents were numerous, including designing, drafting and constructing the family chalet at Osler Bluff Ski Club. David bucked tradition and was often regarded as being the first to experiment with a new build, new sport or business venture. He had boundless energy and a hilarious sense of humour that kept the room at ease.

David was happiest summering at the cottage. Growing up he spent summers at the family cottage on Penn Lake. He raised his family for 30 years in Algonquin Park and lately his Surf Shack” on Upper Mazinaw Lake. Winters were spent on the slopes in the mountains or at Osler Bluff Ski Club. It was in his blood!

A celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.
