Obituary for Diane Gilbert

Beverley DIANE Gilbert
May 15, 1937 – January 1, 2020

Diane Gilbert (nee King) passed away suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in Owen Sound, Ontario. Diane was born on May 15, 1937 in Lindsay, Ontario to Graydon and Leta King, and grew up in Lindsay before moving to Toronto to attend the University of Toronto and eventually settle down. Diane initially began her professional career as a school teacher, before devoting herself full-time to raising her two boys. She returned to work in the 1980’s, working for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and then Balance Inc. She moved to Bobcaygeon once she retired, and then spent the last few years of her life in Owen Sound. Diane was very sociable, and she made many great friends. She loved nature, especially birds and birdwatching, as well as loving playing bridge, and she had a lifelong passion for hockey and baseball.
She is survived by her two sons, Gregor (Marie-eve) and Adam (Deanna), her grand-daughter Pénélope, her sister Susan (Neville), and her niece Allegra. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be missed greatly by her family and friends alike. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society.
