Obituary for Dorothy Kerr

Florence Dorothy Williamson Kerr
Dorothy, passed away on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019 at Sunset Manor in Collingwood, ON, ending her twelve-year battle with Alzheimer’s. Dorothy was born in Falconbridge on May 26, 1940 to Christina & Harry Williamson. She spent her childhood in Falconbridge, and left for Toronto as a young adult to study nursing at St. Michael’s Hospital (where she later went on to work). She also spent time at The Hospital for Sick Children, and Sunnybrook, where she went on to teach. Nursing was an ideal career for Dorothy as she was a very caring person, a wonderful listener, and always ready to help on a moment’s notice. In 1976, Dorothy married the love of her life, D. Ian Kerr and moved to Montreal where her two sons Graeme and Greg, were born. In 1979, she returned to Ontario and settled in Markham where she lived for 20 years. Dorothy is survived by her husband Ian, her sisters Ruth and Judy, her brother Robert, and her son’s Graeme and Greg. Friends, family, and others who share fond memories of Dorothy are invited to a Celebration of Life at The Toronto Ski Club (796456 Grey Country Road 19, The Blue Mountains) on January 24th from 1-3 p.m. If anyone would like to make a donation in Dorothy’s name, please contribute to The Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County.
