Obituary for Dr. John Knight

Dr. John Alfred Knight was born and raised in the east end of Toronto where he attended Adam Beck P.S. and Malvern Collegiate. In his youth he was an active participant in scouting, competitive swimming, football, rugby, track and field and in paddling at the Balmy Beach Canoe Club. His highest achievement was winning the Canadian Championship in his four-man boat.

John graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1969 where he had excelled in his studies and in the art of practice. For forty-three years he helped many thousands of people at the Whitby Chiropractic Centre. He loved his work.

With wife Joan, he proudly raised a son, Jonathan, and now also leaves behind two well-loved grandchildren, Hawksley and Mabel.

John enjoyed downhill skiing and he was a terrific instructor of the sport. At both Lakeridge and Skyloft Ski Resorts, he was known as “doc”. In his mature years, John, who had always been a fisherman, took up fly-fishing. He studied, practised and mastered the art of casting. The calm, cerebral nature of the pastime served him well.

Joan and Jonathan wish to acknowledge the superior care John received at Bay Haven. In keeping with John’s living, we will honour his memory simply and without flowers.

If you wish to give a donation in his name, please consider Bay Haven or Home Horizon here in Collingwood.
Let’s get together to remember John on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 1-4 PM at the Collingwood Yacht Club
