I'm saddened to hear of Ed's passing. To all of Ed's family, especially grandchildren and Michael and Dana, sorry for your loss. I think of Ed as such a fine example of caring and service to the communities he lived in. He will always bring a positive thought to my mind, which is a lovely legacy to leave just a casual acquaintance. Since I was a little girl, I knew Ed as one of those people who cheered for others. He was an encourager of positive action.
Through the years, each time I saw him, he surprised me recalling what was relevant to me from when we last spoke, sometimes years gone by. His sincere interest in people, positive influence and kind smile set a great example around town (at least). He will be missed.

Noreen (Hough) and I both went to school with Ed in Collingwood, back in the fifties. Noreen and her sister Della, also went to public school in Nottawa with Dianne and Pat McKee (now Lunan). We see that Ed has done a lot for his community over the years, and he will truly be missed by all. Last time we spoke with Ed was after Dianne passed away a year ago, and we are sorry that he had so little time since then.

This is indeed sad news. More than a few years ago when we were confused, rambunctious high schoolers discovering or needing finer clothes, I remember him calmly and patiently guiding us through the process of measuring and fitting, advising our choices more like a good father than simply a merchant, always with his sly grin. In later years as my visits to the store became fewer and further between, surprisingly to me he always remembered my name (Mike must have warned him), and he would always take a minute to chat and ask how I was doing and what I was up to. I certainly didn't know him well, but enough to know he was a true gentleman.

With deepest sympathy,
Tim & Lorraine Bremner
