Obituary for Effie Taylor
TAYLOR, Effie Mary. Passed away peacefully in her own home in Creemore October 13, 2019 in her 102nd year, in the care of loving partner Ronald Parsons. She will be deeply missed by children, Dennis (Kelsang Chopel) of Collingwood and Chris of Dunedin, grandson Phil Hurst (Laura) of California, nieces Wendy Braun (Fred) and Judy Elliott (Dave) and nephew Larry Plumb (Sue) all of Stoney Creek and by her many local Creemore friends. Predeceased by her brother, Roy Summers, also a long time Creemore resident.
Born Effie Summers on a farm in Lynden, Ontario, Effie graduated from the early one room school system, then technical school and went on to work as a legal assistant in Hamilton, and, once married (Samuel) in multiple volunteer roles. She founded with a handful of others the Lorne Park Public Library where she worked happily for many years both as volunteer and then employee of what became the Clarkson Lorne Park Library in Mississauga.
Inveterately positive, she never met anyone she didn't like and consider wonderful. An avid gardener and cook, her home was always filled with fresh flowers and the scent of home baked bread and her many amazing food preparations - cupboards and freezer were stuffed to the last with preserves, pickles and frozen products of the latest harvests.
As per her wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Donations appreciated to the Creemore 'Big Hearts' Club or the Georgian Triangle Humane Society, in memory of the many animals who gave her joy throughout her life.
