Obituary for Inger Morris

Inger Morris (nee Lunde) passed away peacefully in her 100th year on April 1, 2021. She was the dear mom of Erik Olav Morris and Nina Kristine Morris. Dear mother in law to Kellie Casey. Loving grand mom (mor) to Jennifer and Heather, Keirsten, Shayne , Riley and Brodie.

Inger was born in Sandar Norway on August 1, 1921 as one of 3 children. She met her husband Erling Morris Hansen at 18 while playing in an orchestra. They would spent the next 80 years together. They immigrated to Canada together in 1951 after she had supported war efforts as a civilian during the 5 year occupation of Norway, and starting her life together with Erling during those early post-war years in Norway. From the time they arrived here, Inger loved Canada. It was here they raised a family and ran a family business for 31 years. In her 99 years she loved many things: she loved summers at the cottage, yoga, running, tennis, piano, shopping & fashion, live theatre, skiing, & teaching skiing at Craigleith. She loved sailing, and swimming in Georgian Bay at every opportunity. She loved Nordic skiing & kayaking. She absolutely thrived on family gatherings of which we had many for her to enjoy. She loved her grandkids. She loved the life and family Kellie and Erik built together. She loved people in general. She enjoyed any chance to talk with them and was always genuinely engaged in the conversation making you feel very special when she did so. She loved travelling. She loved ice cream cones at any time of the day. She loved her dogs, and loved giving & receiving flowers. She loved nature in general and trees in particular and had many conversations with them. She was very connected to the earth and energy of life. Her spirit is freely travelling now and the memory of her life well-lived holds a special place in our hearts.

Inger’s family would like to thank Errinrung long term care and retirement home for such wonderful care during her more difficult last year. Also, thank you to Dr. Collins for keeping her strong for decades so she could live so well during her very long life. A very grateful thank you also goes to Laurie Marritt who was a helper and friend to both Inger and Erling for more than 30 years.
