Obituary

Jessie “Isabel” Wilson (nee MacDougall), R.N., O.O., born Westville, Pictou County, NS, March 20, 1933 - passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 22, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Rev. Dr. Douglas Alfred Wilson. Dear Mother of Margaret Joyce Wilson Agnew (Douglas); Ervin Curtis; Richard Douglas (Laura), loving grandmother of Brent (Pinka); Mark; Caitlyn (John); Jeremy (Mackenzie); Alexander. Much-loved sister of Mary (William) Fraser, and the late Donald (Betty), Arthur (Sharon) and Ann MacDougall. Proud “auntie Bell” of Andrew, Maryl, Glynis and David Fraser. Isabel was a gold medalist at Old Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing in New Glasgow. After her marriage in 1954 to Doug, they lived in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Trenton and Collingwood, Ontario. Isabel was always at the heart of her church and community, volunteering, working and spreading her strength and friendship. She was awarded a Canadian Citizenship award, the Order of Ontario and the Order of Collingwood as an exemplary citizen. She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness to everyone, her generosity and thoughtfulness, her curiosity about life and people, her humility and of course, her legendary baking. Isabel will be missed but not mourned, she will be remembered but not grieved, she will be loved but not forgotten. A private service will be held in September. Interment at Collingwood Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or the Children’s Ministries at First Presbyterian Church, Collingwood.

Our condolences to Isobel’s family. We got to know Isobel as she supported Youth for Christ, always there at our fundraisers and lending her skills to the registration table at our golf tournaments. She was a beacon of light and joy and generosity. We feel blessed that our lives crossed. Peace to her family. Greg & Sharon Goldsworthy

Condolences to the family. Is will be truly missed. She spent her life helping others and our family where very lucky to have her in our lives. She not only checked on my parents and drove them to appointments etc when they where alive but was the first person to come over to help me when my granddaughter and I moved back to Collingwood. She mothered us and was a truly dear friend.
Life was better for every life she touched.
I am sure there was a celebration in heaven when she arrived And we will treasure our memories of all the great times we had together. Love you Is and you will never be forgotten. ❤️

We are very sorry for your loss. May the memory of so many happy times together help you through the sadness. We often remember your Mom and Dad and are grateful for the kindness they showed us. Surely Heaven is an even more glorious place now with your parents together again.
