Obituary for Jack Whyne

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Whyne, beloved father, husband and a true original on Dec 1, 2022 at the age of 89.

Born in Toronto on September 10th 1933, and raised in the garment district, Jack eventually joined the family business and spent years working in Toronto's fashion industry. Beloved by his clients for his gentle demeanor and genuine curiosity about their lives and businesses, Jack was a true man-about-town in Toronto and a lifelong dapper dresser.

Jack was a kind and loving husband and father and it was through his work in fashion that he met the love of his life, Carol (née Campbell, predeceased). The two of them eventually started a family, and moved to Collingwood so that their sons would be able to grow up in the loving embrace of this special community.

Throughout the years, Jack could often be found at the Collingwood YMCA where he would happily greet and get to know each fellow athlete and could be found doing pull-ups well into his eighties. (He proudly set his geriatric PR of 10 reps on his 83rd birthday!) A man as sweet as his sweet tooth, his love of apple pie and ice cream could only be matched by his love for his family. He was a beloved father to children Spencer, Adam (predeceased), Liza (predeceased), Jason and Darrin.

A celebration of life will be held in Spring of 2023 so that we may gather to remember him with joy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Collingwood YMCA YMCA Donations
