Obituary for Keith Wesley Latimer

Keith Wesley Latimer
January 19, 1930- January 25, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Keith Latimer announces his sudden death on January 25, 2019, at the age of 89, at his cottage in Craigleith, Town of the Blue Mountains. Keith will be fondly remembered by his daughter Shelley (Jim Glasspool), son Ian (Iris Puntanen), grandchildren Jamie and Kate Glasspool, Sarah and Erin Latimer and former wife Joan and long-time friend Bev.
Keith grew up in North Toronto and attended John Fisher PS, Northern Secondary and Ryerson. A career in Industrial Engineering followed, where Keith improved efficiencies at CIL paints, Ford Motor Company, and the Toronto General Hospital. At age 55 Keith retired to Craigleith.
Keith joined Craigleith Ski Club in 1958 as a founding member, and in 1963 built his A-frame cottage. Keith belonged to the Thornbury Yacht Club from its inception in 1983, and served as Commodore from 1991-92. In recognition of his continued contributions to TYC, in 2014 Keith was awarded an Honorary Life Membership. Keith was also Past Commodore and Life Member of the Canadian Power & Sail, Blue Mountain Squadron, and taught sailing courses at CCI in Collingwood. Keith was a long-time member of the Nature League, and the Georgian Bay Probus Club, as well as a Past President of the Georgian Trail which he supported from the early days.
Keith was Papa to his grandchildren, and loved spending time with them at Craigleith, frequently making pancake breakfasts and spaghetti dinners.
Keith also loved red wine, jazz, dancing, cribbage, Sudoku, playing ping pong, tennis, squash, football and hockey, and watching CFL Football and the Raptors.
Raise a glass and say cheers to Keith, for a life well lived.
A family burial service will be held at the Thornbury Cemetery.
