Kevin Allan Hackett – July 26, 1960 - May 11, 2019
He passed peacefully surrounded by his family, close friend (Paul Cunliffe) and Pastor Tim.
Beloved father to Joshua Hackett of Victoria, BC and Serena Hackett of Collingwood and he was a renewed friend of Joy Tatham of Singhampton. He was son to Shirley Kendall of Toronto and Garry Hackett of Erin, brother to Kelly Leslie (Ken) of Erin and Corey Hackett (Helen) of Toronto – Kevin was also uncle to Colleen & Sydney Leslie of Erin and so many of Joy`s family, brother to Vickey Lee (David) of Gravenhurst, Dan Sarsfield of Gravenhurst and close friend and companion, Robin Udell (Wasaga Beach). He will also be missed by family in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia and friends close and abroad.

Kevin was a respected commercial pilot (retired) with Air Canada Jazz, (formerly Austin Airways and then Air Ontario). From just five years of age, he dreamed of being a pilot - it’s all he ever wanted to do for a living. He often couldn’t believe his good fortune to work doing something he enjoyed so thoroughly.

After moving his family from Toronto to Collingwood in 1999, they joined the First Presbyterian Church where Kevin became well known for his role as the resident drummer – a renewed passion for him and a gift he was honoured to share freely. He loved the outdoors, camping, canoeing & long walks on the beach.

Nothing mattered to Kevin more than his children. He was so proud of both Josh and Serena; they were the love of his life.

If there is one thing Kevin wanted people to know about his life, it`s how important it is to be compassionate and forgiving.

There will be a celebration of life at First Presbyterian Church in Collingwood – 200 Maple Street, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 16. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to support the youth ministries of First Presbyterian Church in Collingwood.

My sincere condolences to the Hackett family. Kevin was a gem. As one of kevins First officers for many years, I looked forward to each pairing with him, for it was chalked full of laughter and as murry Walsh said well "misadventures" . I can't remember a time when kevin wasn't smiling or laughing at life. Thank you for your friendship. May God hold you in his everlasting arms, for he truly has a special place for you. RIP Capt Hackett

Kevin had many passions and lived each one as large as possible. One of these loves involved a lake, a canoe, a tent, and whatever misadventures that miraculously occurred when we paddled together. But his enjoyment was particularly contagious in every way. And we will not ever forget these memories. Murray and Betty send heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. We were very sad that circumstances did not allow us to attend the funeral.

I send Blessings and comfort to Kevins family that they may be supported with love and kindness in the moments of time that he passes through to the spiritual world. Safe passage Kevin in your next journey. I did not know you for long or very well but I did see a beautiful light and essence in your soul when I met you. May you carry the joy and love with you that you showed others here on earth. God Bless.
Sincerely Lisa Marsh

Great memories of the Dash 8 flights with Captain Hackett; always positive and supportive of his crew. Felt privileged to enjoy his company in Richmond, Baltimore (Annapolis), and Harrisburg. Recognized his contribution to fellow ALPA members. Kevin will be missed by many.
