Obituary for Lee Warner Larkin

Lee Warner Larkin
Passed away at home on December 31st, 2010, of complications related to Vascular Parkinsonism. He was in his 87th year, and will be greatly missed by his family. Lifetime companion and doting husband of Beverley, Lee will be remembered for his droll sense of humour, his keen interest in world history and travel, his nimble calculations on yellow foolscap, and his tremendously social and generous nature.
A graduate of the University of Toronto, Lee worked with his father at Larkin Lumber before founding his own company, The Cashway Lumber Company, one of Canada's first "cash and carry" building supplies stores. He also combined his love of business with his love of the sea, when, with friends, he converted a retired minesweeper into a charter yacht based in the Caribbean. In his retirement, Lee acted as a business consultant, and sat on the board of Slocan Forest Products. An avid skier who made life-long friends on the slopes, Lee was also one of the original members of the Osler Bluff Ski Club, which his family still enjoys today.
Lee is the loving father of David, Ginnie, Cathy and Jeff, and the grandfather of Beverley, Haley, Sarah Olivia, Ryan, Kyle and Tessa. He is also survived by his wife Beverley, and an incredible group of caregivers from the Collingwood area, for whom Lee's family has tremendous gratitude.
Lee has been cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held at the Orchard Lodge of the Osler Bluff Ski Club in Collingwood, Ontario on Friday, January 14th from 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Society Canada, The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation, Doctors Without Borders or the charity of your choice.
