Obituary for Lynwood "Lyn" Forrest

Lynwood Alexander Forrest P.Eng
July 9, 1947 – December 28, 2022

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lyn Forrest our loving husband and father. Lyn passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He had been courageously battling mesothelioma for over a year, tragically this condition progressed into Leptomeningeal Carcinoma to which he unfortunately succumbed.

Beloved husband of Colleen and proud father of Alex and Michael. Lyn was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Hilda. Survived by brother David (Darlene) and nephew Mark and his daughter Natalie. Left to mourn are many cousins, friends, and business associates.

Lyn graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1971 with a degree in mechanical engineering. After 18 years in the construction business, he decided to venture out on his own and started his own mechanical contracting firm in Oakville, Ontario. Knowing that most small businesses are doomed to fail within the first few years, Lyn worked tirelessly to make it a success. His leadership skills and professional demeanor were obvious to all who worked there.

In 2016 Lyn sold the business and started to enjoy his dream retirement. He built a home on Georgian Bay and spent his days playing tennis, golfing, kayaking, and swimming. He enjoyed spending the winter season on Hilton Head Island. He enjoyed an ice-cold beer on his deck at the end of the day while reading the paper.

Lyn was fun loving and hard working. He enjoyed a quiet life, spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed a good joke and loved to laugh.

As per Lyn’s request he will be cremated. There will be no formal service, a Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.

Rest in peace Lyn, you will be missed.

Donations in Lyn’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Princess Margaret Hospital.
