Obituary for Marion Reid

Marion died peacefully on August 1, 2020 at Collingwood Hospital after a brief battle with cancer, with devoted husband of 67 years, Paul, at her side.
A teacher by trade, Marion enjoyed working with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on their reading skills. She met her husband skiing, when they were both training for the ski patrol at Blue Mountain. Skiing became a passion, and the family joined Alpine Ski Club in 1969. As Alpine grew, Mom became the club secretary. She was much more than the title though, and when she retired they hired three people to replace her! Marion and Paul enjoyed travelling and exploring the world for many years, before retiring to their home on the water near Collingwood, then moving into town.

Marion was a founding member of the Georgian Triangle Lifelong Learning Institute and a proud member the Nature League, the Y and the Pretty River Probus Club. She is also remembered for the family gatherings on Marco Island in Florida.

She is survived by her husband Paul, her sister Joan Kelly (Fraser), children Robert (Kathy), Joanne (Nolon Wilson), and Catherine (Kent Patterson), grandchildren Evan (Kendra), Kaley (Andy Suhr), Victoria (Mike Ready) and Stuart (Sydney Cole) Reid, Aaron (Andrea) and Joel (Nicole) Wilson, and Chelsea (Mark Einwechter) and Sarah (Andrew Chao) Patterson, and great grandchildren Caleb, Henry, Finn, Rowan, Jamie and Malcolm, Tenley, Wells, Nyjah and Harper, and Julian and Sloan; a family of whom she was immensely proud. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice Georgian Triangle or the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.
