Hansen, Marjorie Natalie (nee Butula)

March 16, 1938, Sheho Saskatchewan
July 13, 2019, Collingwood Ontario

In her 82nd year, Marjorie passed away peacefully at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital after a short but determined battle against cancer.

Wife to the late Walter Roger Hansen (1992), Marjorie is survived by her children, Jennifer Lagerquist (John), Jeffrey Hansen (Lisa) and Andrew Hansen (Thera Medcof).

Baba will be sorely missed by her grandchildren, Joshua Lagerquist (Serena), Caitlin Tolley (James), Brett Lagerquist, Carley Lagerquist (fiancée David Sylvester) and Sara Hansen.

Great Baba will always be remembered by her great grandchildren, Christabel, Evelina and Annora Tolley.

Marjorie was born to the late John and Anne Butula (nee Hawryliw) in rural Saskatchewan, she was predeceased by siblings Evangaline, Carl, Lawrence, Iris Luch , Stephanie Loane and Phyllis Nazar. She is survived by sisters May Jackson (Bill), Emily O’Neil and sister in law Olga Butula.

Marjorie was an energetic and caring independent woman who treated all she met with kindness, dignity and respect. She worked for many years professionally as an Early Childhood Educator and Caregiver and loved working with children.

Family was the anchor point of her life and she was a devoted Wife, Mother, Baba and Great Baba, Sister, Sister in Law and a much cherished and loved Auntie.

For those who had the privilege of her friendship she will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.

The Family would like to express deep gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Medical Floor and Emergency Department at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, The Simcoe Muskoka Cancer Center - RVH Barrie and Michael Garron Hospital - Toronto, for their compassionate and untiring care.

A private Family interment will be held at Boston Mills Cemetery and will be followed by a Celebration of Life in Caledon Village, details to be announced.

As per Marjorie’s wishes, in lieu of cards and flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation.

We were very fortunate to know and enjoy Marjorie's company. When Marj would join our family dinners, we shared many laughs and, if we were lucky, she would share her cabbage rolls and gingerbread treats. Marjorie will be missed however the memories will live forever!
Our thoughts are with Jeff, Jennifer, Andrew and their families.
