Obituary for Nathan Gerrard Mintz

It is with great sadness that the family of Nathan Gerrard Mintz announce his sudden passing on October 27, 2020. He was the beloved son of Gordon and Margaret Mintz, brother of Joshua (Abby Gallagher) and Joel, predeceased by Grandad Gerry Mintz, and Uncle Jim MacNeil. He is a treasured grandson of Erin Preston, Kenneth and Beth MacNeil of Brockville, ON. He is fondly remembered by uncles and aunts Randall and Holly Mintz, Lynda Mintz, Judy MacNeil, Br Philip MacNeil, Andrew and Shannon MacNeil, and Sr Victoria MacNeil.
The crew of cousins were very close enjoying many family vacations and visits together filled with laughter, games and music. Nathan will be sadly missed by Iain, Alec, Aaron, Jocelyn, Reid, Bryce and Quin MacNeil and Ryan and Nolan Mintz, and Anna, Calvin, Joel and Janine Halvorsen who describe him as a kind man and gentle soul with an infectious sense of humour.
Nathan was an athlete and passionate sports fan. A former athlete of the year and captain of several of his hockey teams, contributing to winning four city championships in Winnipeg and being named a lifetime Pembina AA Twin. He also was a high school football player, avid golfer, and when not playing sports himself, he very much enjoyed watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs and New England Patriots.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted toward a memorial on the Blue Mountain Resort property ( through GoFundMe https://gf.me/u/y64fz2) which Nathan loved (and is where he worked at Monterra Golf in the summer and the Woodview skating loop in the winter) or to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in support of mental health.
A private memorial Service will be held at All Saint’s Anglican Church, Collingwood, at 2 p.m. on November 7. The service live stream can be found under the photos and videos tab. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life and Interment of Ashes in Brockville (date to be determined) in Spring of 2021.
The family is very grateful for the generous outpouring of support from so many.
