Obituary for Richard Gibb

Richard passed away peacefully at Sunset Manor, in Collingwood on May 4, 2021. He is survived by Jalna (nee Tissington) his loving wife of 41 years and his two sons Mark (Jodi), and Stephen (Candice), and granddaughter, Brooke. He will be missed by his brothers Brian and Tony (Connie), his brother-in- law, Ian Tissington, and by his numerous nieces and nephews. Rick was born in Truro, Nova Scotia in 1942 but was whisked away by his mother, Dorothy, to her family home in England for the duration of the war. His father, Dick Gibb, joined the Canadian First Division. For many years Rick spent holidays visiting cousins in England and then helped his father organize summer bicycle tours in Europe.
Rick developed a love of history. He earned a Masters Degree at Western University in London ON. and became the History Department Head in Aurora. He chose to commute and to make a hobby farm near Feversham ON. his home. A special thanks to our fellow teachers at Dr. G.W. Williams S.S. and to the 10th Line gang (near Feversham), who often joined us for activities - including happy hour - at the farm, the Haliburton cottage, and our Collingwood home. They helped make our lives so wonderful.
Rick was admired for his generosity, his leadership and his sense of humour. The hat he is wearing in the above photo is not a baseball cap; it's a Tea Cozy!!!
The family is very appreciative of the staff at Sunset Manor for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. If desired, a memorial donation in Richard's name, may be made to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.
