It is with great sadness that the family of Rick Barrett, son of the late James ‘Tub’and Norma Barrett share the news of his passing on Thursday December 19, 2019 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie at the age of 62. Rick is deeply missed by his loving wife Marie Leroux and their 5 children Steve Barrett & Amanda White, Josh Barrett, McKinna Barrett & Tom Wilson, Lisa Leroux & Brad Parkell and Nicole & Neil Nicolson. Rick will be missed by his brothers and sisters Mike & Susan Barrett, Cindy & Wayne Browning, Christine & William Tucker and Curt & Joanne Barrett. Rick otherwise known as Ace loved being with family and friends and had a great passion for playing baseball. He was quiet spoken and his quick wit sense of humour had him well known to have you laughing. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by all his friends, family and ball players across the province. Visitation will be held at Fawcett Funeral Home on Thursday December 26, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion – Collingwood on Friday December 27, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. with reflections at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to Collingwood and District Slo-Pitch would be appreciated.

Marie and Family,
We attend the Collingwood baseball games as spectators and often would see Rick and Marie play. Although we did not know Rick or Marie well, we offer our deepest condolences. We shall miss not seeing him play this summer.

Marie and Family, on behalf of myself Mike Lalonde and the entire Clever Office 45's ball team we would like to pass on our most heart felt condolences at the passing of Rick. We have had many good times on the ball field with "Ace" a terrific man and a very good ball player to boot. He will be missed for sure. Heavens slo-pitch team just got a very good player, their gain is our loss.

To Marie and all your family. Our sincere condolences to you all. So shocked and saddened to hear of Ricks passing. Always enjoyed playing ball with Rick who always seemed to come through with a clutch hit when the team needed one. He will be really missed.

Barry Tonner & I had only met Rick a couple of times but we thoroughly enjoyed his company, he was humourous and a gentleman.
Our condolences go out to Mike & Susan, Amanda Barrett Tonner amd Meredith Barrett, remember the good times, they will help sustain you during your grief.

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
