Obituary for Roger Lockhart
Roger John Lockhart born January 8th, 1938
The family is heartbroken to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Roger Lockhart on February 13th, 2021.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Gail, with whom he shared the last 15 years. Together they enjoyed boating, travelling, and spending time together. Roger was the proud father and mentor to his two children, Krista and Dean. He was also the proud father-in-law of Al Walcroft and Anne (Besse) Lockhart.
Roger was adored by his four grandchildren, Kelly and Katelyn Walcroft and Kendal and Cameron Lockhart.
Roger leaves behind his two sisters, Jean Thomson, Cathy (Howard) MacDonald. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Randy (Sandra) Pyatt, Don Parks (late Merilyn), Jerry McLean (late Sherrill), sister-in-law Marg (John) Lean, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Yvonne (Pyatt) in 1990, by his parents Clarence and Mildred (Blythe) Lockhart, his brother James, brother-in-law Les Pyatt, and father-in-law Gord Pyatt.
Roger was born in Singhampton and raised in Collingwood where he went on to build a successful career in the automobile business with Lockhart Motor Sales Ltd., as one of the prominent General Motor Dealerships in the area. He then continued on to establish Collingwood Toyota in 1989.
Always one for adventure, Roger also played an instrumental part in the development of the south end of Collingwood by establishing the Lockhart Subdivision. Roger’s many interests included boating in Georgian Bay, playing and engaging in the stock market, and travelling to sunny destinations. He was also a proud past Master of Manito Masonic Lodge and past chair of the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Board.
Roger was an entrepreneur, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and a true gentleman, loyal to all. His caring, warm and generous nature was recognized by many. His legacy will continue to grow through his loved ones and will be cherished and missed by all who knew him.
Due to Covid, a private family service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 18th, 2021 at Trinity United Church. The service will be available through livestream under the Photos & Videos tab. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle - Campbell House, Collingwood G & M Foundation, Owen Sound Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
