Obituary for Romas Duda

Born on January 21, 1928 in Mažeikiai, Lithuania, Romas Duda; devoted husband to Joanna (predeceased), father, grandfather and friend; a generous, hardworking family man who was loved, is missed, and will always be remembered. Fondly referred to as “Zip” by those who knew him in the Collingwood community, Romas lived life with positivity and resilience and passed away peacefully on February, 13, 2022 with family by his side. Predeceased by his parents Rapolas and Barbora (Jakštas) Duda, and his sisters Janina and Albina. Loved ones who will miss Romas beyond measure include his children Renata (Fred Koeman) Duda, Nida (Grant) McMurchy and Robert (Jennifer Marsanis) Duda and his grandchildren William, Joanna, Victoria McMurchy, Anika Koeman, Nathan and Evan Duda. Romas was an active member of the Lithuanian community in Wasaga Beach, who sang in the choir, was always eager to help organize and prepare food for various functions and activities, and did not hesitate to help those in need. The love and compassion he had for his family and friends was always evident. Cremation has already taken place and a private interment of ashes will be held sometime in the spring. We are forever grateful for the exceptional care Romas received from his doctors (most recently Dr. Colter and for many years Dr. Rowlinson ), as well as the nurses and caregivers at Hospice Georgian Triangle-Campbell House. If so desired, donations may be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle-Campbell House or Church of the Lithuanian Martyrs.
