It is with heavy hearts our family announces Ron’s passing on Wednesday December 14, 2022, in his 90th year. He is loved deeply by his wife of 66 of years Janice, and their children Pamela (Wayne) Belanger, Kevin (Brenda), Jeffrey (Karen), Ron (Alison), Rick (Cindy) and Erin (Andrew) Fawcett. His grandchildren Kyle, Kendal, Kirstin, Alex, Jillian, Lauren, Jill, Holly and Adam will cherish their memory of him as their kind and fun-loving gramps. Great-grandpa to Dexter and Jackson.
One of four sons born in Windsor, Ontario to parents Ralph and Cora Fathers, Ron is survived by his brother Gary and his wife Mary Ann; predeceased by brothers Ken and Eric. He will be remembered with fondness and respect by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Ron and Janice settled in Collingwood in 1968 when Ron took a job with Excise Canada at Canadian Mist Distillers. He retired in 1995 and spent his days at his “piece of heaven“in Nottawa where he enjoyed entertaining his family, birdwatching and puttering around the yard. If he wasn’t at home, you could find him in the company of his grandchildren. Whether it was a Christmas concert, school play, soccer game or just a quick dinner, he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them and cheer them on in whatever they did.
A private family service will be held at Fawcett Funeral Home – Collingwood Chapel. As an expression of sympathy donations in Ron’s memory may be made to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation or Hospice Georgian Triangle.
