Obituary for Ronald Small
Born Tuesday February 19, 1946 in Holly, Ontario, passed away suddenly at his home in Stayner on Thursday, March 25, 2021 in his 76th year. Ron, beloved husband of the late Carol (Assaff). Father of Carrie, loving Dad of Ronny-Lynn and Lisa (Michael DeCaire). Grandfather of Julia and special Grandad of Jeffrey. Predeceased by grandson Aaron and granddaughter Leeanne.
Ron, a welder by trade, was a long-time employee of the Collingwood Shipyards; worked throughout Ontario with the millwrights and finished his working career in Maintenance at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital. Retiring from CGMH allowed him more time for travelling with his hounds, hunting, and carpentry. As he would say; he was a jack of all trades, master of none.
Dad was a man of great presence; both in stature and in personality. A constant provider of strength, understanding, encouragement and knowledge, he made sure that his girls grew up to be strong, self-confident and capable women. He was our go-to guy and his passing has left an enormous void in our lives. Time to rest now Dad. Although we did not say it out loud a lot, we hope you always knew just how much we love you.
As per Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place with interment at Stayner Union Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
