Obituary for Ruth Bilbija
Ruth Catharine Bilbija (nee Smith), daughter of John and Mary, passed away peacefully January 17, 2022, in her 98th year.
Ruth was predeceased by her brothers Donald and Stanley and sisters Jean McIntosh and Bette Smithson, survived by brother John.
Ruth was born in Collingwood and began her career in the local bank of Toronto. She moved to London, Ontario to work with Bell Canada, accepted a transfer to Toronto and a few months later a promotion to management in Sudbury which was to have been a two-year term. She fell in love with the city, its diverse culture, the food, and her husband Milan of 57 years. She remained in the north until Milan’s passing when she returned to her hometown Collingwood in 2018 as a resident of Bay Haven Care Community where she would be close to her brother John and sister-in-law Sharon.
In honour of her wishes cremation has taken place with no formal service. Memorial donations would be appreciated to a charity of choice.
