Obituary for Tommy Knox

Tommy passed away at Campbell House Hospice after a brief illness in his 75th year.
He was much loved by his wife Marie of 51 years.
Tommy and Marie emigrated in 1972 from Port Glasgow, Scotland to Canada with their son John. This young family started their new life in Collingwood with Tommy finding employment as a carpenter at the Shipyards. After buying the family home on Gibbard Crescent, which they still call home, their son Thomas came along to make a family of four.
Tommy is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Martha Knox (nee Hudson) as well as his sisters Agnes and May.

Tommy always spoke highly of his father for good reason, he was a WW2 Veteran who survived a German POW Camp after being captured in the battle of Dunkirk.
He is survived by his wife Marie (nee Lunan), his sons Thomas and John (Yvonne Gauthier) and one special granddaughter Lydia. Of course, he will also be missed by his extended family and friends here in Canada as well as back home in Scotland.

Tommy lived for simple pleasures…he loved a good Scottish breakfast, a glass of Glayva, fishing, his backyard birdfeeders, Las Vegas, helping neighbours, newspaper wrapped fish suppers, a well poured Black & Tan, slot machines, a good Harvey’s burger, a classic War movie, scratch tickets, puzzles, sales on casual shirts….and Las Vegas…..did we mention Las Vegas?!
But most of all, his love was for Marie.

As per Tommy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
In his memory we ask you to have a sip of your favourite drink and play a scratch ticket in his honour!
And in lieu of flowers, a donation to Campbell House Hospice would be appreciated.

Thank you from Tommy’s family to Dr. Quigg, Dr. Boyd and all the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Staff.
And a special thank you to everyone at Campbell House, where Tommy spent his last days.
Hospice is by far a place of compassion and love that has no equal.
