Obituary for Wallace Cannon

Wallace J. Cannon (Wally), born in Toronto in June of 1930 and residing in Thornbury, Ontario at the age of 90, passed away peacefully, at home, on February 17th, 2021 surrounded by family.

Wally, a Chemical Engineer (U of T) dove into life with passion and commitment. In his life, Wally built a very successful business that allowed him to pursue his active life interests. These interests included, travelling, scuba diving, tennis, skiing and golf. A skier at heart, Wally continued to ski race through his mid-eighties and eagerly followed the success of his two Olympians (Daughter- Janice and Grandson - Derek Livingston).

As with all his activities, Wally pursued excellence, taking lessons, putting in practice time to incorporate the next best tip for improvement that he read about. Wally in turn, returned this knowledge to the next generation through coaching, teaching and being the example.

Wally was married to Margaret Cannon (Betty) in 1956 and they remained steadfast in their union throughout life. Wally is survived by Betty and his four children and their spouses; Lynne & Peter Livingston, Brian & Donna Cannon, Bruce & Linda Cannon, and Janice and Gordon Milne. Wally is also survived by 12 grand children from this brood.

With Covid19 restrictions, there are no planned memorial services at this time. The family insists that people wanting to support Wally’s causes or in lieu of sending flowers, are encouraged to make donations to The Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation (#831085089RR0001) Phone (705) 444-2555 or Out of the Cold (Year 2) (#118868199RR0001)
