My Big Brother

Robin, the nicest man in the world!

He was fun, big time fun.

Always generous with his time, talents, and assets.

A wee bit of a perfectionist.

Honest, loyal, caring.

Robin always took care of others before himself, making sure everyone felt included.

He was my big brother, and always looked out for me.

As kids at the cottage, picking sides for a badminton game, I was the smallest, age 4, the one left over when there is an odd number of players. Robin, age 13, quickly took my small hand and said “Come and play on my side, Turn, we’ll be partners.”   He put his hand over mine on the racket and helped me swing at the bird.  He always made me feel wanted, included, important.

During the tough times in my life, Robin was always there with his arm around my shoulder.  He’d invite me to join his family for special ocassions if he thought I might be alone.  When my daughter Dani died, Rob and Pat immediately drove to Toronto, to hold my hand, to help, to stock my fridge.  Thank you Robin. Thank you Pat.

For the last 10 year since my retirement I have enjoyed spending 3 months every winter  hanging out with Robin.  Our time together was unhurried, and precious; a treasure.

Thank you Robin for being my wonderful brother.  I love you.
