My Cousin Don.....

I miss him already.  That bright, sardonic light can’t really be out, can it…..?

The last many months have been a delight (at least for me), having had the opportunity to spend a bit of time with Don and clan up in Collingwood.  They’ve approached the ominous task of death in a most remarkable way -- as one might expect from this bunch -- with humour and grace.

My memories of Don go back to the house on Pearson in West Toronto where my Dad’s sister, Elsie, was incubating geniuses…..starting with a razor-sharp scoundrel with a Teflon attitude.   I thought for sure Don and his cousin, Georgie, were going to set the world spinning in the other direction. And I think they both kinda did for a decade or so.  Thank god for wives.

Anyway – my dear cousin Don had a most fulfilling, long and blessed life…. he created a wonderful family legacy, and I believe he truly appreciated what he had along the way.

We sure appreciated him.  I will remember him always.

Love, Jan xoxo
