Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we must announce the passing of our beloved Aunt Marion. Small, but mighty, fiesty to the end she left us at 5 a.m. September 20th as a result of the trauma she suffered on Saturday, September 14 in the hands of a stranger. She left this world with Valerie by her side and surrounded by the love of her family.
Marion was born near Feversham, ON on September 2nd, 1933. She is predeceased by her parents and her younger sister Dorothy. Never married, Marion moved to Toronto and had a long career working with the Toronto Credit Bureau (now Equifax).
Most weekends, Marion would travel by bus to Collingwood to the homes of her family where she would be forced to endure the endless antics of her three nieces and their friends. Countless hair and makeup makeovers, numerous live stage performances where we would lip sync (badly) into a hair brush, whatever the popular song was at the time and she did it with a smile on her face for over two decades. Our girly fun and games were replaced by masculine shenanigans when her great nephews, Brian and Jeff were born. She welcomed the next wave of babies with open arms when her heart grew to include Brooklyn, Chase and Sawyer. Family was everything to her and she was a second Mom/Grandma to us. Only, the cool one who never said no.
Aunt Marion is survived by her brother-in-law, Victor Lougheed, her nieces, Janet (Grant), Jennifer (Stephen) and Valerie (Mike). Great nieces and nephews Brian Schildt (Samantha), Jeff Schildt (Sabrina), Brooklyn, Chase and Sawyer Hughes and Chris Sampson. Her great, great nieces and nephews Nixon, Maci, Aurora and Heath will miss her immensely.
She was a bright light in a small package, who shone in the lives of many.

In lieu of flowers donations to Ronald McDonald House or the Georgian Triangle Humane Society would be appreciated by the family. Marion's nieces invite you to join them at All Saint's Anglican Church Hall at 32 Elgin Street, Collingwood on October 2nd from 1-3 p.m. to share your memories of their beloved Aunt. A tribute to Marion will be made at 2 p.m.

A private family celebration will be held at a later date with internment in Maxwell Union Cemetery.

I was so shocked on the news of Marion's death. I worked at the Toronto Credit Bureau/Equifax. starting way back in 1968. But of course Marion started way before me. She was the sweetest, kindest, adorable person you could ever meet. She never argued or had an unkind word to say about anyone or anything. We had so much fun when the company was originally under Toronto Credit Bureau. It was a family environment, and because we all loved working there everyone gave 100% not only to the company but to each other. Our Christmas parties were always the best and I remember her sitting with Hilda, Josie, Irene, Ernestine and Aileen just some of her co-workers. I just sat at a different table. Once the company was taken over the family atmosphere was
gone. To Marion's family my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you at this difficult time. Marion, may you rest in peace.

To Marion's family and friends, Marion was a lovely lady, I have talked to her off and on in the common room in her apartment building, she was there most nights, and talking with anyone that would come in that evening. She was there for people that perhaps needed a word of encouragement, always friendly and happy going. What happen to her is so sad, and unthinkable she was out walking most days, happy that she was able to do it. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, rest in peace Marion.
