Memories from Akey Hung
Dear Friends of Lee:
We all miss our beloved Lee, don’t we?
I first met Lee when I came to Collingwood before Jeff and Lily’s wedding, and I visited him and Beverly many times since. Whenever I went through Customs at the airport and was asked by the Immigration Officer the reason why I wanted to visit Canada, I always replied that my daughter had decided to marry an Irish Canadian so I got to enjoy visiting her in-laws at least once a year.
Yes, Lee was a wonderful person and very easy to get along with. When I told him that I did not like to wear ties, he said he would certainly go along with me if I chose not to wear one at the wedding. So we were the only male family members at the wedding without them!
I have told Jeff many times that I enjoyed visiting his parents because I felt so at home in their house. I was grateful for Lee’s hospitality - he generously provided Swiss cheese and multi-grain bread when I requested them before my visit, and welcomed me to open the refrigerator to make myself delicious sandwiches anytime during my visits. Of course, I also enjoyed dining at the water-front restaurant that Lee treated us to in Thornbury. Although I am currently unable to travel as I recover from back surgeries, it was for reasons like these that I was looking forward to many more visits as soon as I am fully recovered.
Now that our beloved Lee is no longer with us, I won’t get to telephone him and visit him anymore. But I will treasure my visits and our friendship forever.
Lee, I miss you!
